When looking over Orange Pi’s website, www.orangepi.org, for my recent blog about the small board computer manufacturer; I spotted a new pi on the window sill. The Orange Pi 5b. The links to buy the board from their Aliexpress and Amazon stores are dead for the time being. This is most likely due to early promotion on the website much like they did for the Orange Pi 5.
Orange Pi 5b:

With that being said the upgrade from the base model (Orange Pi 5) as listed on their website, is adding Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality inboard and making 32gbs of RAM an option.
This is a significant advantage over the original board. I currently own 2 of the orignal 5 boards and run various servers on them like Octoprint and Pihole. Taking up the m.2 slot or a usb on the back for a Wi-Fi card stinks. Bringing in the drivers yourself are a hassle. Plugging the boards directly into the ethernet stinks limiting range. So Wi-Fi and Bluetooth being on board will be awesome.
32gbs of RAM will make it a drag racer for crunching code. It has onboard machine learning element (included in base model) that will greatly benefit from the larger headroom.
All welcome additions.
